First Asian Catholic Digital Missionary Assembly to Gather Communicators in Manila

Vatican-backed initiative will bring together digital missionaries, content creators and Catholic influencers from across Asia to strengthen evangelization in the digital continent.

Catholic digital missionaries, content creators, communicators and faith influencers from across Asia are invited to take part in the First Asian Catholic Digital Missionary Assembly, which will be held from 10 to 13 September 2026 at the headquarters of Radio Veritas Asia in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. The gathering aims to foster collaboration, formation and a shared vision for digital evangelization across the continent.

Jointly organized by the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences – Office of Social Communications (FABC-OSC)and Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), in partnership with the Dicastery for Communication through the Fully Present Network, the assembly reflects the growing commitment of the Church to accompany and strengthen digital missionaries in Asia.

The event will be held under the theme "Influencers to Witnesses: A Synodal Way for Digital Mission in Asia,"inspired by Acts 4:20: "For we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard." Organizers hope the assembly will encourage participants to move beyond social media influence toward authentic Christian witness, rooted in communion, dialogue and missionary discipleship.

The four-day program will combine keynote presentations, workshops, prayer, networking sessions and collaborative discussions designed to equip participants with practical skills and pastoral perspectives for evangelization in today's digital environment. Particular attention will be given to synodality, ethical communication, digital storytelling, artificial intelligence, content creation and strategies for engaging younger generations online.

According to the organizers, the assembly seeks to build a continent-wide network of Catholic digital missionaries capable of supporting one another, sharing best practices and responding creatively to the challenges and opportunities presented by the digital culture. It also aims to strengthen cooperation among bishops' conferences, Catholic media organizations and individual digital evangelizers throughout Asia.

The initiative is part of the wider mission inspired by the Church's growing emphasis on digital evangelization, particularly following the "Towards Full Presence" reflection promoted by the Dicastery for Communication, which encourages Christians to foster authentic relationships and meaningful encounters in digital spaces. Through the Fully Present Network, the Vatican continues to support regional initiatives that translate these principles into concrete pastoral action.

Participation is open to Catholic communicators, social media evangelizers, young content creators, media professionals, clergy, religious and lay leaders engaged in digital ministry across Asia. Organizers expect the assembly to become a milestone in strengthening the Church's missionary presence on the continent's rapidly evolving digital landscape.
