Padova, Roma, Firenze: 3 dialoghi su La Parola e i racconti

Three dialogues between Church personalities and as many women writers. Libreria Editrice Vaticana and Banco BPM have organised three public events in as many Italian cities around the themes of the book "La Parola e i racconti". 16 women writers read the parables of the Gospels, recently published by Libreria Editrice Vaticana. Padova, Roma and Firenze are the three cities in which these high-profile cultural dialogues will be held, while other events in other Italian cities - at the request of bookshops, cultural centres and institutions - are being planned: "This testifies to how the idea of Donne Chiesa Mondo, the women's supplement of L'Osservatore Romano, to have the Gospel parables reread by today's women writers was a very fertile and suggestive intuition" notes Lorenzo Fazzini, Lev's editorial manager.

On Thursday 1 December at 9 p.m. in Padova (Sala Studio Teologico, piazza del Santo 11) the focus will be on 'Listening to, or being passionate about, the story of the other', inspired by the story Piccole luci a Parma (Small lights in Parma), inspired by the parable of the ten virgins (Mt 25:1-13) and composed by the writer Emanuela Canepa, who will dialogue with Fra Antonio Ramina, rector of the Basilica of St Anthony of Padua.

On Monday 5 December at 6 p.m. in Roma (Palazzo Altieri, Piazza del Gesù 49) it will be the turn of a discussion between Father Antonio Spadaro, Jesuit, director of La Civiltà Cattolica, and Nadia Terranova, author of numerous novels, on the theme Perdersi, ritrovarsi, essere ritrovati, (Getting lost, finding oneself, being found), which takes the title of the story by the Mexican narrator E ti vengo a cercare, inspired by Luke's passage on the lost sheep (15, 4-7).

On Thursday 15 December at 9 p.m. in Firenze at the Abbey of San Miniato al Monte (via delle Porte Sante 34) a new discussion between Father Bernardo Gianni, Abbot, and Ritanna Armeni, journalist and writer, on the theme Let no one be left behind: the reference is to Armeni's own story linked to the parable of the lost coin (Lk 15, 8-10) that gave rise to the story Matilde and the drama.

"The wide feedback from readers and critics that this volume has received, and the ready adhesion to these dialogues by various cultural subjects," Fazzini points out, "show how the power of the Gospel word can still be unleashed in our age, defined post-secular by various observers. The wisdom of Scripture knows how to question people who remain open to the fundamental questions of existence'.
