Inspired by the parable of the Good Samaritan, the document aims to initiate a common reflection to foster a culture of being “loving neighbors” also in the digital sphere.
In the social media context, where individuals are often both consumers and commodities, this Pastoral Reflection searches for a faith-filled response.
This response begins with being discerning regarding the stimuli we receive and being intentional listeners.
Attentiveness, together with a sense of belonging, reciprocity, and solidarity are the pillars for building a sense of community that should ultimately strengthen local communities, capable of becoming drivers of change.
Becoming “weavers of communion” through the creativity of love, we can envision new models built on trust, transparency and inclusion, learning to be present in God’s style and bearing the mark of witness.
This document was conceived as a starting point, an initial framework for a shared reflection.
In an ever-evolving ecosystem where technology sometimes risks simulating relationships rather than fostering them, we feel an increasingly urgent need not merely to "use" platforms, but to inhabit them as authentic people.
We are called to preserve human faces and voices, to cultivate listening, to disarm language, and to weave networks of genuine closeness and hope.

Here are three concrete ways to walk together and shape this presence:
One — Inhabit your networks with intentionality
Share your everyday experience and perspective. Tell the story of how a style of proximity and listening finds space in your personal context, in your community, or in your communication work. Use the hashtag #FullyPresent to connect your voice with those who are working to build a more human digital space.
Two — Give voice to reflection
If you work in communication professionally or pastorally, offer your contribution of thought. Send a brief critical reading, a testimony, or an in-depth analysis on how to live a full presence today to fullypresent@spc.va.
Three — Generate local encounters
Promote opportunities for exchange and dialogue, whether in-person or online—a "digital coffee" or a local listening session—to discern together how to inhabit contemporary culture. Don't forget to feature your meeting or initiatives on the Map: an open gathering point for everyone to share events, articles, resources, and stories of good.
