On September 11–12, in São Paulo, the National Conference of Religious of Brazil (CRB National) held the second edition of its Communication Congress. The event, hosted at Santa Marcelina College, brought together around 270 participants including religious, communicators, and experts to discuss the theme “Innovation, Artificial Intelligence, and Institutional Strategies.”
Among the speakers were representatives of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Communication: Nataša Govekar, theological director of the Dicastery, and Sister Nina Krapić, coordinator of the Pentecost Project.
Govekar highlighted the importance of always verifying sources before sharing information, even when it comes from trusted people, and warned about the risks of excessive social media use, especially among young people. She mentioned the case of a school in Germany where an entire class was diagnosed with disorders linked to intensive use of digital platforms, affecting self-esteem and personal identity.
Sister Nina Krapić stressed the responsibility of Christians in the digital environment, noting that social media should not be seen only as tools for dissemination, but as spaces for witness, dialogue, and fraternal communion. “Authenticity is what builds trust and brings hearts closer,” she said, underlining the need for discernment and coherence of life in communicating the Gospel.
At the close of the event, Sister Neusa Santos, CRB’s communication officer and the congress organizer, announced the next edition: September 11–12, 2026, on the theme “Innovation, Emerging Technologies, Humanity, and Communication.”
